And I may as well here declare, also, that there could be no more virtuous woman than the General’s wife. Such a triumph might have been justly claimed by the ally of Rome, if Wallia, before he repassed the Pyrenees, had extirpated the seeds of the Spanish war. It was far from the intention of the emperor to lead his troops in person.
